Followers of Christ have been called to spread His good news around the world. After His resurrection, Jesus said, "All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to Me. Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age" (Matthew 28:18-20 ESV). Christian missions necessarily includes teaching others the Word of God and biblical truth.

Believers are also to "contend for the faith that was once for all delivered to the saints" (Jude 3 ESV). In a day when false teaching and cults are running rampant, Christians need to be equipped to defend their faith. But the need for biblical discernment is not limited to America.
Africa is an especially challenging climate. Cults are multiplying and growing. Indigenous charismatic extremist groups are operating almost unchecked - and doing tremendous harm. To make matters worse, pastors are severely underinformed and underequipped for discernment and defending their flocks.
Simply put, the Christians in Africa have almost nowhere to turn for help in defending their faith. The region has no single source or reference point on cults, aberrant Christian movements, and non-Christian religions. There's no credible Christian agency to provide reliable facts, balanced biblical critique, or evangelistic strategies.
This situation must change - and it can. By God's grace, we're seeking to establish a permanent ministry in Africa to respond to the challenge of cults and aberrant Christian movements. This agency will develop tools and training to equip believers to respond both apologetically and evangelistically. The Africa Center for Apologetics Research will provide Christians with the resources and training they need to effectively defend their faith and reach out to the lost with the gospel.
