The Africa Center for Apologetics Research is a partnership between the Centers for Apologetics Research (CFAR) and Kampala Evangelical School of Theology (KEST). United together with a common vision, CFAR missionary John Divito will hold a chair of apologetics at KEST, where he will teach church leaders as well as hold open seminars and conferences in the area of biblical discernment and cults. He will also develop standardized curriculum for teaching cults, apologetics, and comparative religion throughout the region.
More than that, ACFAR will become a resource and training center for equipping Christians to defend their faith. We will create an online database for East African cults and aberrant Christian movements, including both scholarly and popular source materials. ACFAR will also conduct research, translation, publishing, and distribution of much-needed resources for Uganda, East Africa, and beyond. For church leaders, we will produce a quarterly bulletin to keep them up-to-date with the latest research and material. Our goal is to create an evangelical institution that is recognized, respected, and relied upon by believers throughout Africa.
At the same time, there is even more that we want to accomplish. With the young and growing population of the region, we must reach out to the students and future leaders of Uganda. We hope to impact public schools with awareness campaigns. Furthermore, we plan on assisting and equipping campus ministries as they disciple and grow college students. While colleges and universities are fertile grounds for cults and false teaching, they can and must be countered with biblical truth.
Are we being ambitious? Yes we are. But we desire to do great things for our Savior! There is so much to do, but with your help our plan can become a reality. Let us be encouraged by the words of the Apostle Paul: "Now to him who is able to do far more abundantly than all that we ask or think, according to the power at work within us, to him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, forever and ever. Amen." (Ephesians 3:20-21 ESV).
