"The establishment of a Center for Apologetics in the East African region is long overdue. For a long time we have contended with false teaching through diverse religions, most of them from the west - and especially from America. We at Kampala Evangelical School of Theology (KEST) are pleased to host this center in partnership with the Centers for Apologetics and Research. This partnership saves us from reinventing the wheel, since after all most of the controversial religions originate from America. Having said that, we are well aware of Africa's own traditional religions and superstitions, which find their way into Christian practice. This syncretistic element has often caused the dilution of the Christian hope. There is a resumption of deep cultural aspects that are of a cultic nature. We hope to undertake research in these, given that fact that very little documented research has been done on what one can term as African cults.

John Divito and his family will join us soon, once sufficient support has been secured, to take up a chair of apologetics at Kampala Evangelical School of Theology. East Africa is a place with an explosion of Christian revival. This opportunity presents both a blessing and a challenge, largely because an increase in the Christian population has overrun the capacity of the church to offer professional and well-informed pastoral service and care. This makes the opening of an African Center for Apologetics a great opportunity and relief to Christian mission in the region. We look forward with excitement and great anticipation for this opportunity, which will advance authentic preaching and pastoral service, including church planting, in East Africa."
